skintone tutorial that I found "the most accurate" no adding black, not too much colors needed. and this video also teaches beginners that if you make accidental blooms in your painting, you can always always make up to it in another layer rather than thinking that the whole painting is ruined early in the process . Much love! ❤❤

Hey guys, painting of an eye starts at 11:24, first part of the video is about mixing skin tones in watercolor. If you are only interested to see the painting process, go ahead and skip it :)

Even when you describe every part of your process, it is still magical to watch your paintings develop and come to life!

Love this video. I think it's a great example of how learning shadow placement can become easier when you approach one zoomed in subject and start with values instead of details. I would love to see you break down other features like the nose and mouth and your favorite color choices lips! Beautiful work :)

beautiful skin tones, and you model the shape of the face (eye orbit) around the eye, plus examples of other mixing effects to explain your process. excellent!

You are an amazing artist and teacher. I love watercolor and the few chosen colors mixed to get your washes and then add the shadows makes your painting so beautiful. Thank you so much for this lesson.

Thanks, I've made so much progress because of your videos; the encouraging words, carefree but deliberate processes, and lastly because you dared to share them with us! Many thanks Jane!

Amazing, with so much detail and depth. I'm going to try an eye study.

Jani, this is probably my life-changing video! I used to add shadows to my skin tones by using (recklessly) pure brown or pure blue or mixing alizarin crimson with blue, which of course ended up in a bruised effect. But hopefully now there will be no more bruised portraits! :)
