Mexico's senate approves controversial electoral reforms, critics say changes threaten democracy

Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has stood by his decision to approve a reform of the nation's electoral institute. Critics, however, said the changes will put the credibility of the nation's elections at risk. Lila Abed, deputy director of the Mexico Institute at the Wilson Center, joined CBS News to discuss the situation.

Mexico's INE = National Electoral Institute, its been run by the same families for the longest, from the political party of the rich in México, the PRI= the equivalent of the GOP in the USA. Meaning the PRI owns INE. Here in Mx people are tire of not having a chance to ever have a job in the Mxn Gobernment. The people protesting this Reforms ARE NOT REGULAR HARD WORKING PEOPLE, they are current workers at INE and their families. AMLO wants the local people to be able to choose who works in their local town. That if it passes can be turbulence of course, there are entire families holding this jobs for the longest and most under the control of the Rich old monies.
