At UFC 212 a unification Featherweight title bout took place between champion José Aldo and interim champ Max Holloway. Aldo began the fight throwing power shots at the way of Max. But Holloway's gameplan was to measure how aggressive Aldo would fight early. Once getting his read on how much energy Aldo had after eight minutes, Holloway realized Aldo's stamina and confidence were diminishing due to a lack of a response coming from taunts. Jose Aldo is a counter fighter, he hardly ever attacks first, unless he knows it’s kill time. So Max saying he doesn’t wanna fight is silly, Jose Aldo saw the taunt as a bait. Which is very smart by Jose Aldo, prime Jose smokes Max easy though.

Honestly kinda a smart tactic when you’re a guy like max who is as dominant as he is, especially during that time. If you start taunting a guy and he dead ass doesn’t even try to crack you or punish you for that, then it’s a fair assumption that you’ve already broken your opponent down mentally. Or at least hurt his confidence a little which is exactly what happened to Aldo. He fought back but after a little while I think he just started to realize he wasn’t going to beat max and started accepting defeat.
