Living in Nantes, i can tell you that Le carrousel, l'élephant and other méchanical créatures stay there all the year long, and they take them out in the summer.
ANd that's not the only creazy artisitique realisation in Nantes, there also is Le voyage à Nantes wich is just awesome. you should check it on google !

The group of artists that make the giant articulated creatures is called Royal de luxe. I saw the elephant in Le Havre and it was absolutely beautiful.
