Lisbon FREE Walking Tour & Portuguese FOOD!

We went on a free walking tour in Lisbon with "Chill Out Tours" and loved it! Our guide was really funny and we loved learning about the city. Lunch at Super Mario was really authentic feeling, especially since we were the only tourists in there! (And we ended up running into our guide there!) The food was delicious. Of course the gelato at Nanarellas was one of the biggest highlights of the day!

The free walking tours are common in many European cities, and I've never had a bad experience. They're informative, with entertaining guides. Yes, they're not really free because you are supposed to give them a tip at the end, but the amount you tip is whatever you want. They also offer info about paid tours their companies operate, which are also often superb. Generally, I think it's a good business model; they're not trying to cheat you in any way. I've been on ones in Prague, Krakow, Budapest, Athens, Sofia and Dublin. All were excellent.

Nannarella is the best gelato I've ever had, and we tested extensively in Italy. Their salted caramel gelato was incredible.
