Los Angeles Unified District school employees will conclude a three-day strike on Thursday and return to work on Friday, despite a contract standstill as no agreements were reached.

District employees are demanding higher wages and better working conditions. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is actively involved in the negotiations between the district and the Service Employees International Union, Local 99, which represents about 30,000 teachers’ aides, bus drivers, custodians, cafeteria workers, teacher’s aids and other support staff.

KTLA's Rachel Menitoff reports on March 23, 2023.

Unions take other peoples money, they don't pay for these increases, taxpayers do. They're the ones who should have the last word.

Im sorry but, Asking for $30 dollars is a reach! Not even college graduates make that at entry level! They should of accepted the 23% raise they were offered!

I get they want more money but at the cost of my child’s education missing days of class isn’t right either.

Parents should have the right to decide how budget must be handled not unions. This is tax money

It would appear to me CA is one of the few states where kids might be harmed less by NOT going to school. Transition mailings will likely go down.

It is understandable that many are upset about the low pay, yet the cost is with students paying the price. So what has actually been solved? Schools that did remain open had no educators and were left open with some type of supervisor. Schools that were closed to the students, the students were the only ones that this had any effect on. So if students were to say well if teachers can simply decide not to teach, then students can feel as if they can not show up!!!! No students then there is no class and once again the same concept happens, the students are the ones that once again suffer. It seems that society has gotten to where if things are not the way they should be then protest. So now teachers get what? Students who these teachers say they love so much, yet students were denied an education. So what incentives do the students have to even show up to class? If the teachers who love them so much, and want to help with their education can simply decide one day to not be there. Then why should the students trust the teachers are going to be there giving kids the education they so rightly deserve.

Lock the teachers out of the school and go to eLearning in the classrooms. If they want to strike make it permanent. It's time to break up LAUSD. It's too big and the unions have a greater ability to impact a large number of students when they essentially decide to hold everybody hostage with strikes that don't amount too much because they're not even attempting to negotiate with the Board.

If $millions and $millions of union dues weren't funneled into democrat campaigns, the strike wouldn't be nessecary.
