Sudan's Midwives: Saving Lives One Mother at a Time

This short video follows a day in the life of Nora, a 23 year old graduate from the midwife training school in Kassala, Eastern Sudan.

In 2006, the state of Kassala had the second highest rate of maternal mortality in the country. By 2010, this rate had significantly decreased, mainly because of the efforts of the Sudanese government and development partners to improve reproductive health by training midwives, providing nutritional supplements, raising awareness about reproductive health as well as improving rural roads to facilitate access to hospitals.
