I just love these lush, elegant, sophisticated strings. Pure class. Evocative of a time and place that have gone with the wind.

My favorite movie of all time, with such a sophisticated score. When I need a pick-me-up, this is the movie I go to in my DVD collection. True classics are timeless. In more recent years I've also found it to be a good antidote for these current troubling times; perhaps more so than the 1950's. Humor and wit will trump over adversity and bullying any time.

Seeing Rosalind Russell as Auntie Mame, then in "Picnic" - possibly two characters as different as possible - you truly appreciate what an absolutely wonderful actress she was. She could elicit side-splitting laughter, or convey absolute poignancy to the point of tears, and any actor or actress who can elicit tears from the viewer is working with alchemy. Loved this movie when I was a kid, even if, like "Greggerman", I didn't get most of the references, as an adult, I appreciate all that I missed as that 11-year old.

My Father never enjoyed going to see films in theaters whereas my Mother loved them. So, as a small boy, I would be dragged to the local movie house to accompany her. Because of her taste in films I saw things like Billy Wilder's "The Apartment" and musicals like "South Pacific". "Auntie Mame" was one of the first films I ever saw on a big screen. I will always remember being dazzled by the opening credits and the theme music. At six years old I didn't get much of the humor of the film, but I sure was struck by its style and I truly believed that Rosalind Russell was Auntie Mame, of course I knew no different. The film holds up very well in these very different times. It's a class act through and through. Thanks for posting this.

One of my 10 favorite movies of all-time, featuring the single greatest comedy performance by an actress. Rosalind Russell Rules! And I remember the first time I saw this film and heard this splendid theme. Bravo!

Thanks chowpuppy. I knew that song was embedded in my memory bank but I just assumed it was from seeing the movie. WGN-TV, Chicago, and the late movie. Another great tune I enjoy is from hearing the Alex North Playhouse 90 Theme as myself and my sisters were heading up to our 8 o'clock bedtime.
Great Music !!!
