I find it sad and uncomfortable that we store so much online. Phones get lost stolen or damaged. Accounts get hacked, the internet goes down, and electricity can be cut off. What, then?

We ain’t paying for any stinking streaming service, thank you. Roku is all we need. But our grandkids have free access to dozens of our old DVDs and videos to all the original Disney movies, Charlie Brown’s Christmas, and so much more. They think it’s a treat! We would rather see the real thing for free than be paying fees.

I keep the list of important phone numbers, because the internet or devices can fail. A small booklet does not take up a lot of space.

It's not wise to get rid of paper maps. If GPS goes down, you're screwed if you're in unfamiliar territory.

We learned to never, ever go on a road trip without a physical map. I was traveling over the Oregon cascades out of Bend and was using GPS. My GPS insisted I take one route but I really wanted the other. I reset it and went on our way. Not knowing the area, I thought we were fine. Until the road got very narrow and winding. Gah! It had taken me down the old logging road! I had no cell service and no where to turn around. My husband saw my location on a side of the mountain and was worried. And my poor grandmother was worried because we were hours late. On the positive side, the drive WAS beautiful and a fun detour with the kids that we would have missed, so I am thankful for the experience but also aware of how quick it could have been a very dangerous trip. Always travel with a paper map!

I keep my dvds cause I enjoy watching them for free, saving me money. I'm very minimal about most things in my life, but my dvds stay. I have over 2k movies. I'm super organized, and my house is absolutely tidy and clean. I have a specific place for every item in my home.

Music on CD is far better quality! Will never get rid of them or DVD’s

I really couldn't disagree with this list more, and I usually appreciate your insights. Relying so much on online resources is detrimental to so many aspects of living.

Call me old school, but I feel more comfortable with physical forms of things. Having information solely online makes me nervous. Heavy reliance on technology or electricity-powered devices makes me feel vulnerable. If the internet goes down or you lose power, you're in a bad place. Maybe this attitude is from the prepper in me.

I listen to CDs every day during my commute. So I keep the best ones in a box in my car. My car is old enough to NOT have a streaming service available in it. And I use paper maps in the car when I travel, too. My phone is so smart, it stays tethered to the kitchen wall 24/7/365.

First time i disagree with your advice! I love my CDs and DVDs! And my dictionary most of all! It's ancient and tattered but one of the most fascinating things to read.

A lot of these do not apply if you're trying to raise kids without sticking a smartphone in their hand. My kids will ABSOLUTELY learn how to read a map.

I agree with many on your list, but not music cds. Why would I get rid of the music I ALREADY OWN and have to pay for it again to get it online?

If you ask your computer to store your passwords, even if encrypted, you're just opening the door to be hacked by someone someday. It is literally, one sheet of paper - seriously, do you think you're saving a huge amount of space by storing the data off-site instead?

Encyclopedias of old are priceless! "Information" is constantly being erased, so please don't dispose of them 🙏 The older, the more informative!

its funny u mention cds and dvds. I got rid of mine years ago but streaming services are starting to piss me off with all the price increases and scenes being deleted form certain movies that I went back to dvds late last year. and found them to be super cheap. been watching them like crazy and even started buying a bunch each month to build up my library so I dont have to rely on streaming anymore!!

My son watches his dvds all the time. You have to pay for streaming services.

I really like that most people who watched this video are on the same page and fell better with the "real stuff"... 😊😊😊

Hello! I agree with a number of the items you shared. We keep copies of paper maps, because we have frequently experienced the loss of GPS and needed them. We also live in an evacuation zone, and it was recommended to keep a paper map. The maps have saved us more than once. Thank you for all you do!
