Five charged in 'wide-ranging criminal case' over Matthew Perry's death

Five people were charged in connection with the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry. NBC News' Steve Patterson has the latest on the news conference. Former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner joins Ana Cabrera to react.

You have to credit his step-dad, Keith Morrison, being an investigative reporter. He knew who to push on this. He loved Matthew as his own and he knew Matthew would want his death to mean something, to do something to help save others.

I’m sorry for Mathew Perry and his family. My daughter dies 2016 while 33 weeks pregnant. I have text messages and her phone that clearly gave a name and details of her picking up the perc laced with fentanyl. Law enforcement had her phone and basically treated the case as just another drug addict who overodosed. They said they could not prove that the texter gave her the drug because it had to be witnessed.

I sure wish I had the money and high profile to get justice. I wrote a book Truth Be Told A Mother’s Raw Grief. It’s the best I could do to help resolve the injustice in the death of two of my adult children.

Again, prayers for the Perry family.

This angers me on another level. I am a chronic pain patient. My doctor prescibes pain meds for me on a carefully monitored basis. She is very careful to abide by state snd federal oversight as am I. Every prescription is federally reported to avoid doctor shopping and I will not accept prescriptions from others without her okay. Having these restrictions in place leaves me baffled that they were able to do this. Do regulations really mean anything? These people sound like real selfish monsters.
