here are the steps to set up an IP address for a primary virtual machine in RHEL 9 on VMware:

Start the virtual machine and log in as the root user.
Open the Terminal application.
Type the command nmtui to open the Network Manager Text User Interface.
Use the arrow keys to select "Edit a connection" and press Enter.
Select the network interface that you want to configure and press Enter.
Select "IPv4 Configuration" and press Enter.
Select "Manual" and press Enter to configure the IP address manually.
Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway for the network.
Select "Automatically connect" and press Enter to enable the network interface to automatically connect at boot time.
Press Tab to select "OK" and press Enter to save the configuration.
Press Tab to select "Quit" and press Enter to exit the Network Manager Text User Interface.
