In a recent article written my Mopar Insiders, it is revealed as to why such hefty fines are being levied against Stellantis (FCA brands) and why prices have soared in the last few years. New CAFE standards have caused the demise of the Hemi engine and it seems Mopar had little choice but to abandon the hemi, which has always been the identity of the brand. These numbers will floor you!

Smaller turbocharged engines are much higher maintenance than larger normally aspirated engines. Nobody is discussing that metric since it will be a consumer cost after the warranty is up. Which means resale value will take a huge hit, if you can sell it at all.

The emissions from All the Hemi engines ever produced don’t equal the pollution generated by industry across the country during the same time period. As usual, the individual consumer is made out to be a scapegoat for big business.

I bought a 2010 SRT new. Since then the Challenger has received numerous improvements, but the cost to upgrade simply wasn't worth it. Still love my car. 75, 000 miles later it's been reliable, comfortable, and compared to older muscle classics I've owned, and a couple I still do, it has amenities, safety features and fuel mileage the old ones never dreamed of. I grew up in the malaise era and absolutely appreciate what I have.

It feels like the 1970's all over again.

I'll keep my HEMI as long as I can. Once I need another car and if electric is my only option it won't be Dodge. If I want twin turbos, I'll go Japanese or German.

The last time the government tried to drastically remake the auto industry was in the 1970’s and we saw what happened back then. It was an epic disaster for the industry and the economy. It continued into the 80’s and automakers finally made some cool stuff again in the 90’s. It seems this is happening all over again.
