Chiro thinks migraines aren’t genetic. Blames his patients. I’ll stick to my neurologist, thanks.

I have Familial Hemiplegic Migraine Disorder, a rare type of migraine. It is inherited (hence the name "familial"...it runs in families). It has a significant impact on my life and isn't caused by my "spinal energies being misaligned" or whatever this quack thinks. It's caused by a gene mutation (in fact, 3 known gene mutations are responsible for this category of migraine).

Migraine is a complex neurological disorder. It's not a "headache", although headache is a symptom. Many kinds of migraine have a strong genetic component and are inherited. Different migraine disorders come with different risks and treatments. For example, my type I'm at greater risk for stroke and cannot take most of the migraine meds available to treat migraine episodes.

Chiros like this guy infuriate me. He blames his patients, mocks them, and tells them to come get some of his snake oil to treat their neurological condition. See a PHYSICIAN - a neurology headache specialist - if you have complex migraines.

Makes sense coming from a chiro. The dunning-kruger effect is strong with them

There are genetics that can make you more prone to them, but we have the ability to prevent/cause them.

My grandmother, mom, me, and my son all have migraines. I spent most of my mid teens to mid 30s going to the ER or IV places at least 6-7 times a year for my most severe ones, and having another dozen or more I handled at home.

My son and I went keto and they got worse, which was frustrating becaise it was really helping my other health issues. My son and I did an elimination diet, eating just beef, salt, and water, and learned that high histamine and high salicylate foods were the triggers for our migraines. We cut them out mostly and I've only gone to the IV place for severe migraine 3x in the last five years, and my son has only had a few episodes. Everytime I get them now it's because I ate stuff I shouldn't and/or exposed myself to environmental triggers (we can absorb and breath in stuff that will have the same impact on a chemistry level as our foods).

So while some of us are genetically predisposed (my son and I cannot eat a lot of high histamine and salicylate heavy foods compared to others), I do not believe they are preventable/ triggered by lifestyle influences that we can modify or remove. Like wearing a mask when dealing with chemicals or mowing :)

Ive spent so much money on chiro and my migraines did not go away. 6 months ago after i got sick of paying for his fancy lifestyle i left. I dont feel worse. If anything i feel better because i exercise more and have more money in the bank.

Can it come from other ways? My sister gets migraines and as far as I know no one else in the family does.

If you don’t realize almost everything has spiritual roots you might think they are… passed down in your family. And they are. Familiar spirits are passed down as well.
