I bought a watch from you this January. It wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t check Delray because of your videos. And as a GS fanboy I’m sorry you had that experience. I think some people are desperate to have GS acknowledged as a big boy brand, and feel slighted if you don’t jump on board. Glad you gave it a try.

Only one thing i dislike about Grand Seiko, and that is the lack of micro adjustment on the clasp. I hate that also about the Omega Railmaster and Aqua Terra.

As a big seiko and GS fan i completely support your take, all points are well made, watches are subjective and everybody should pick what they like. Also I'm the same way about the spring drive, like the concept, great for somebody else, not my taste.

Let me say that I do very much enjoy your honesty Fed. You come across very open about the negative and positive aspects of watches, the industry and the community of enthusiasts. It's a big part as to why I am a subscriber.

Curious that the negative GS fans were that impactful. I do recall you saying that you got s lot of flack in the past from Rolex fans but that hasn't seemed to affect your love for the brand.

Having said that, not every brand is for everyone and your likes and dislikes are your personal taste. Nothing wrong with that at all.

As others have noted, perhaps in the future one of the automatics might be worth your attention. Thanks for the great content.

Yes, watch tastes are subjective. I've connected with my GS sbge005 and love it to pieces. To be honest, I don't care much for the GS that you tried either. But I love mine. Your take on GS and Spring Drive are completely fine with me although I completely disagree with you mainly because I value accuracy above all else. But I would never write you hate mail about your opinion because we are all different. Your opinions well supported and watch knowledge is excellent, and I'm happy that I found your channel.

Federico-really enjoy your channel. First, I do not own a GS, but I am in Seiko FB Groups. I own Rolex and I am in Rolex FB Groups. Really surprised about what you said about Seiko owners, as I have witnessed the very opposite in the past 8 months of my watch enthusiast journey. The Seiko Groups have been very open and supportive and the Rolex Groups can turn into drama. Anyways, thanks for your videos and take care.

Federico, you are absolutely right about the GS and connecting with a watch. When you buy a new or vintage watch and once the honeymoon period is over, when you put the watch on your wrist again and you feel that connection and see yourself staring at it for a long period of time and can’t wait to wear it again, then you know it’s a keeper.

Hi Federico, long time follower here, and GS fan. Sorry to hear about "hate" you received for "not liking" something, sometimes internet comments can be toxic.
Me being a Seiko fan for a long time I appreciate your oppinion and learned things from your channel, so thank you.
I also think that being too aggresive is a bad thing for the brand itself and I like GS being a quality brand that goes "under the radar" as you say, but these people being too agressive what are doing is putting the brand in a bad spot.

I think you're right about the GS community being toxic, I just don't think Seiko perpetuates that mentality. I don't see a benefit of them doing it. However, it seems to stem from the signature tagline of the brand by its fans: "Buy a Rolex to impress others, buy a Grand Seiko to impress yourself". It implies that everyone who buys a Rolex, buys it exclusively for social clout, whereas GS owners are pure and only do it for the love of the mechanics. If the slogan of your community serves to splinter watch lovers, your community will probably be defensive, maybe even toxic.

I know all too well about toxic community behaviors and it’s sad and disappointing you had to deal with such folks. I personally would see myself connecting more with a Grand Seiko dress watch than one of the sports watches but I applaud you giving it a try. I really love the watch community and so far most of my experiences have been positive. I completely agree with you need to feel a connection with your watch in order to love them. Now, on your previous video I commented that if you don't like the Spring Drive movement, GS have other options with traditional escapement. I hope you find something that speaks to you.

Absolutely love the video & opinions. Seiko/GS fanboys are more judgmental and look down on other watch collectors more than fans of any other brand (including Rolex).
