That's a good one! Master locks are not the best but pins requiring no picking is a security feature I've never seen yet! :)

That's mass-production. The same with spools in some locks. Seems the manufacturers die not pay attention to put the spools in the chambers with the shortest key pins, but always at the same indices, Great picking as always and thanks for showing.

Well the 911 and 931 are great to learn to pick spools but the measures Master are taking to save are getting ridiculous,
Impressed you noticed that, i would not have detected it

Well the apprentices at master lock have learnt not todo that anymore 😂😂😂😂
Sure is a real shame as if the core was serrated and only a few alterations this could be a good challenge lock🤔🔐
Thanks as always for sharing your findings, nice work⭐️🔓🍻😘😍👍😉

Another thing I've seen recently is a key pin that was so long that it was at the shear line while at rest. The narrator said that this pin stack was "not in play" and turned a 5 pin lock into a 4 pin lock. I can see that potential. But wouldn't it also mean that just by checking the long pin for binding it might be very easily overset? I was actually thinking of doing this for a challenge lock.

It’s a anti bump protection set up on pin 3 I think

Hi Harry, As I mentioned earlier, we are also seeing this problem, only with locks assembled in China - is the Master padlock cylinder assembled there also? If the driver and key pin are slightly BELOW the shearline, the spring can wind around the plug. If they are level, like with yours that doesn't happen. So as not to get caught with the spring problem when picking, we are tensioning the core in suspect locks,  and checking each pin, if one locks up immediately, we assume too short a driver, and the top of the driver pin is hitting the underside of the bible. Release tension slightly lift pin, and THEN you can feel it set normally,  thus identifying the problem, and keeping that in mind when picking the other pins. Saving us unnecessary headaches. With the Master you gutted, all drivers were the same length, do they have or fit longer spools/drivers?   Regards, Brian.

Nice as usual, I have the Master Lock model 6727 version of the 931 and I think it's the same Lock.

Do you have a tool you use to put back on c clips that are the ones that get bent out of shape when you take them off? Not like the ones that are hard metal that keep their shape and snap back on but like ones on euro cylinders that when trying to remove them they stay all bent up. Do you just buy extra c or e clips and throw away the bent ones? If so where do you get extra clips. If you have a tool to bend them back what do you use?

I honestly don't think I have seen that before... not that it hasn't happened to me before I just never realized it.

Don't you mean that the bottom or key pin in slot 3 was too short? The spools were the same size.

I'd like to see them make these locks compatible with American cores.

What tool did you use to remove the core?

Can you recommend a lock that can’t be picked? Perhaps brand and model?
