Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay is the most underrated writer of India. Except bengali very few people know him but I have read many of his books, I found it better than many of Rabindra Nath Tagore's literature.
*Edit : Not better than Tagore literally. But Tagore's writing are philosophically hard to understand and very deep.

Other major difference between National anthem and national song are:-
1. A National Anthem reflects the history and culture of the country..
While acountry’s population will strongly relate to a National Song due to many different factors...
2. As per Article 51A of the Constitution of India, honouring the National anthem is one of the fundamental duties of a citizen of India...but in term of the National Song does not have such constitutional privileges were honouring it is listed as a fundamental duty of a citizen of India...
3.The National Anthem of India is the “Jana Gana Mana” composed by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911...nd the National Song is “Vande Mataram” composed by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in the 1870s...
