Catching GIANT FISH in Downtown Chicago Riverwalk | Field Trips Illinois

In this episode I'm joining George Watford for some urban fishing right in the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois. We're hitting the riverwalk in search of giants, and the action is non-stop. We're drawing a crowd everywhere we go as we battle big fish after big fish right in the heart of the city.

Guys seemed to have good intentions but have to agree with the rookie factor. Using correct appropriate gear to protect the life of the fish is paramount and should’ve been considered by these guys. Still looks like they had fun and genuinely didn’t intend any harm. Lessons learned hopefully and good luck to all of my fellow fishermen

See how fishing draws people together? Fishing is amazing! I feel bad for every kid that never went fishing. It was so pleasing to see those young boys fishing and having a great time. The one kid that hooked the big one isn't ever going to forget that experience. He also has an awesome story to tell! I hope these kids grow up fishing and keep the tradition going.

I remember the days when the rats would run across the water on the garbage and the only thing you could catch from the river was sickness.. Hell, I even remember a couple of time the river caught fire... But I left chi town many many years ago.. I am glad to see she has survived to get a bit better.. Me? I am old and deteriorating myself.. thanks the view of the old city..

I feel like it’s pretty irresponsible to be using 2 lb test… multiple multiple fish w trebles in their mouth. I carp fish often and use 14-20 lb test w no problem of visibility…

I love it I'm 50 now, as a child and ever since if I see water I think about fishing it. Never cared what I caught as long as I'm catching. I have spent thousands of hours fishing and never really cared if I was catching, it is the thrill of what might be. Loved your video.

I used to work along the river many years ago - before the riverwalk - and always wondered what was alive in there. Now I know, thanks! Fun fact: the flow of the river was reversed to keep the pollution out of Lake Michigan - Chicago's drinking water source.

You two guys are two of the most entertaining fishermen I believe I have ever observed. I am setting on the edge of my chair watching you on youtube. Imagine getting a broken reel trying to land a carp. If it wasn't on youtube, no one would believe it. And the kids certainly were having a blast!!

As an English angler who has done a lot of carp fishing, it was interesting to watch this. I certainly wouldn't have used less than 8lb test and a rod with a bit more backbone. Carp will go for snags and you need to be able to muscle them away.

Not wishing to be too negative, but here in the UK we never go for carp with trebles in case we break off, and big carp deserve at least 10lb test. They're beautiful fish, so why risk leaving them struggling with trebles?

Hey try Lincoln park zoo . They got alot of carp there ..i use to fish the chicago river all the time . Huge carp in there .awsome video...

Put on some heavier fluorocarbon or mono don’t break as easy as braid when fishing around structure it and maybe use some heavier gear you don’t wanna LWE breaking off and leaving hooks in fish’s mouths but awesome video👍🏻

I was waiting to see a fish with multiple hooks in its mouth. The fish probably have a medic fish down there surgically removing all the hooks from snapped lines.
