My First Time in Tunisia! my first impressions, trying street food, exploring tunis

Next up in circling the Mediterranean in 40 days... Tunisia! We loved exploring Tunis and Sidi Bou Said, trying local street food, and learning more about the fascinating and unique history of this region.

For years, I've had a dream of circling the whole Mediterranean; not just the European coasts but also exploring the Middle East and North Africa. My sister, Sage, and I got to planning and together we are embarking on this adventure together. When we were looking at the travel space, it seemed that female creators still appear to be far outnumbered and local female stories are had to come by. With this in mind, we want to explore each location through the lens and experience of the local gals who live there to gain a better understanding of the culture, politics, and history of each region.

0:00-2:42 why we're here & visiting la goulette
2:43-4:30 a brief history lesson
4:31-8:37 exploring the souk marketplace
8:38-12:20 learning what it's like from a local
12:21-14:51 trying tunisian street food
14:52-17:31 visiting sidi bou said
17:32-18:43 tunisian night life & our thoughts on tunisia

what you had bought in that small box and eaten later is called "Makroudh" which is a traditionally fried "cake" made of semolina stuffed with dates/nuts.

I'm actually upset that I've never been to Tunisia. As a Moroccan, I don't understand why we feel the need to travel to other countries in Europe for example and forget our beautiful neighbouring countries. You made me wanna visit Tunisia! ❤

I did a week in Tunisia staying in Sousse and did the day trip to Tunis visiting the Medina, the mosque in the Medina, Bardo Museum, city centre, Sidi Bou Said, Roman Carthage and Lake Tunis before heading back to Sousse. I've visited other parts of Tunisia like Port El Kantanoui, Skanes, Monastir, 2 day trip to Sahara Desert (includes El Jem Amphitheatre, Matmata, Douz where we did the Sahara Desert on camel, Chott El Jerid Salt Desert, dune bashing, Tamerza Canyon, Chebika Waterfalls, Tozeur doing the horse carriage around the oasis, Gafsa, Kairoun Mosque) and obviously Sousse

I loved your video! Not only is the editing on point, but as a Tunisian I truly appreciated how well researched and well informed you were about the history and politics of the country you visited!

Btw what you ate at the beginning is called ma9roudh! It's fried pastry made with dates and it originates from the city of Kairouan and dates back to the early Middle Age!

Tunisia is not in its best shape or form as of now due to the economic crisis and political unrest, but hopefully we will one day stand back on our feet!

Tunisia Main history is being Carthage not just that : Carthage Was one of the biggest Empires back then for so many years, And as Tunisian i feel like that part is always missing, We had one of the greatest General of all time Hannibal Barca, its rich of history, but yea just wanted to say that, cuz lot talk abt tunisia but they never talk abt great carthage, our true history

As a Tunisian, I'm partly flattered of how good you made tunisia look in this video.
But there are still a bunch of places you didn't go to and foods you didn't eat that I'm sure you'll enjoy.
Also mlewi isn't supposed to be eaten like that, that's why the food fell off.
