I love the symbolism of the shot at 3:08 with Kuze's expensive shoes being submerged underneath filthy sewer water. It just goes to show that, for all the glamor of the yakuza life, Kuze has determination and never shies away from getting dirty unlike Awano or Shibusawa. While the other lieutenants wait for Kiryu to come to them, Kuze pursues him underground through a sewer.

All three of the Lieutenants ended up being badass in their own ways, but Kuze wins. This part right here solidified him as a really solid villain.

Quite possibly my favorite dynamic intro in the series. Just the sheer shock of seeing Kuze come after Kiryu on a bike is one thing. Kuze's utterly badass speech comparing boxing and the yakuza life, coupled with a longer version of Pledge of Demon? That made this legendary for me. This scene really cemented Kuze as an awesome character, even if you fight him a lot and he does lose his threat towards endgame.

I absolutely love that music that comes on during the boss fight sequences. This game has got such an epic soundtrack, so glad i got into Yakuza. The story, characters, gameplay, the world etc everything is top notch.

To me, this fight is one of the most important turning points of the game. From the start of the game up until now, you assume that Kuze was just a greedy bastard who hired the hitman and laid down the trap against Kazama by using Kiryu. The player assumes that he's just a deadbeat trying to cheat his way up the ranks in the family. But then this fight happens and Kuze does his speech, and I think the biggest part about it is how he says "Having Awano or Shibusawa beat me to the captain's spot? Couldn't give a fuck." He just throws out the ENTIRE motive of the empty lot hit away, telling players not only that Kuze wasn't the mastermind behind the scheme, but that the entire story runs significantly deeper than what players thought. I think this is one of the reasons why, despite being a one-off villain, Kuze is many people's favorites throughout the entire series.

I've watched this so many times. That brief silence as Kuze clashes with Kiryu and the Fight Title Card pops up, then the music kicks in - this is absolutely amazing.
