5 Things GarageBand Can Do That Logic Pro on iPad CAN'T

I like Logic but I still use GarageBand first….nothing goes to logic until I’m ready to really finish it. It’s amazing what GB can do.

That Kyle bit had me ROTF !!! The best way to work right now, IMHO, is to use both. Record your IAA and strings in GB and import them in Logic. For the effects, there's a search function to find by name instead of developers. Song sections is less intuitive but seems to work well. Cool vid, Patrick !

I'm sticking with Garageband thank you very much. No subscription apps for me!

As a total newbie, I’m just mastering my first 10 tracks in GarageBand and have had no issues at all. Since I have a very old iPad also, it makes sense to stick with GB.

Staying with GarageBand. The song section is something I use a lot as part of my arranging workflow, It flows over into Mac version in the arrangement track. The fact that it doesn’t exist in Logic Pro for Ipad is a showstopper for me. I don’t master in GarageBand I just use it to record tracks and arrange so GB still has everything I need.

You can change the fretboard to violin in the surface setting menu. It allows you to slide the pitch up and down - you will want to increase the pitch end range in the strings instrument. But it’s not as good as Garageband as it’s not MPE. All held strings get moved in pitch.

Don’t forget the Funktion in GarageBand for iOS with the little smiling screen, that via the camera, makes it possible to use the Wah effect with your mouth 😊

This was needed to be mentioned, great video. Hopefully Logic can do something to resolve this.

I was thinking that same thing; then, weeks later, you’ve finally brought it up. Thank you. Being a one man band, I play stringed, keyboard, and percussion with real instruments. Final-Cut Pro might be good for that. Although I have Luma-Fusion, which might be sufficient. Nonetheless, GarageBand is actually great for quick for the amateur that I am. I don’t need too much anyway.

A glorified “Acapella” is what I want.

I moved over to logic pro. But, I will edit and do a lot of things in GarageBand for the project and then switch it over to logic pro. One thing I noticed that is a real pain and have not figured out yet is if you transfer a song from garage band to logic pro, and you have a fade-out, you can’t get rid of it. Also trimming the head of a song where there was 4 blank bars in G band is a mystery to me in logic pro

Logic Pro is really good but shows how good GarageBand really is. I think quantitisation is better in logic. But for me I want somewhere in the middle, a few more functions in GarageBand but less of the bloat of logic.

The subscription-free touch instrument playing surfaces and song section feature are the reasons I'm sticking with Garageband iOS for now. Awesome vid, BTW!

Great video! I haven’t gotten a chance to really put Logic Pro through its paces, but it’s been awesome seeing the space grow.

Great video...sticking with Garage band for now...still learning it...a producer of my friend let me know I needed some compression on some instruments, so I'm tackling that in GarageBand /YouTube next; Compression 101

I'm sticking with GB, but it's useful to see these kind of comparisons as folks get to grips with Logic iOS. I may dive in one day.

Great job for showcasing the GB power! I think people might feel guilty for using GB cuz it surely doesn't look that pro level messy, but this free bait from Apple is actually really really good!

One thing you didn’t show was the auto play chords? It Logic has that ? Oh they didn’t include that feature?

I think you can monitor autotune through iPad mic on GarageBand but can’t really do it with Logic Pro because of latency. Logic pro is kinda clunky as is but great sounds. I really miss the sections rearranging format. Simple and powerful

I still find myself using GarageBand more than Logic Pro.
Purely because I know it so well.
