My son is 6 yrs old and we’ve been really pushing for speech since the age of two. He’s finally able to let us know what he wants, answering yes/no questions. I always ask my son questions (knowing he won’t respond) I will respond if I know the answer. My son is a pretty chill kid and prefers to not talk. I bug him 😂 a lot with conversation. I ask him what’s your name, how old are you, what are you watching, how did you sleep, how are you feeling. Very open ended questions you can expand the conversation. But simple questions that they know the answer too. I’m not a medical professional but I have two kids with ASD and speech deal and they’re under two years a part. My son is more severe with speech delay. Just keep talking and ask questions even if you don’t get an answer. They’re still listening 😃

I'm Autistic and I ask questions and talk where my Neurotypicals counterparts don't know what to say they barely start a conversation. The Neurotypical Women are really bad.
