When these first aired, in the pre-VCR days, my sister and I would record the audio track to these shows on our dad’s reel-reel tape machine.
I probably listened to this episode back a couple dozen times or more without the benefit of seeing the picture and know just about every detail.
To hear it back all these years later with no laugh track is very strange.
You do however, hear every nuance in the dialog that would sometimes get covered up or stepped on by the canned laughter. Radar’s lines with Henry especially. Their interplay and timing was so great, it’s fun to hear it stripped down.

Jamie Farr's audition story is funny. He went into the trailer, saw the female uniform and assumed he was sharing the trailer with an actress. Then he found out the skirt was for him.

Radar could smoke cigars and drink during the earlier episodes of MASH. After the Potter, BJ, and Winchester came on, those disappeared.

How about that? Radar was always teased about his height, but this general actually made him look tall!

What a show! The DVDs have an option to disable the laugh track. Klinger was supposed to be a one-time only character. But Jamie Farr would become a regular. He didn't get a Section 8, but later was promoted to sergeant. Sorrell Booke would later become better known as Jefferson Davis "Boss" Hogg.

The actor who played General Barker was Sorrell Booke later he would play Jefferson Davis “Boss” Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard also on CBS…he also played his twin brother Abraham Lincoln Hogg….he also played Mr. Arnold Dilk the principal of the Barden School in the first Freaky Friday movie in 1976…I hope y’all will reply to this
