• In each episode of “The Toy Box,” inventors present their toy concepts to a group of mentors that include Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren, toy guru Jim Silver and Pixar creative director of Consumer Products, Jen Tan. If the toy maker gets past the mentors, they will move on to The Toy Box where a panel of young, no-holds-barred judges that include Sophia Grace Brownlee (“The Ellen Degeneres Show”), Aalyrah Caldwell (“Uncle Buck”), Toby Grey (“The Unexpected John Cena Prank”) and Noah Ritter (“The Ellen Degeneres Show”) decide which toy moves on to the finals and eventually crowned the winner. That winning toy will be sold exclusively at Toys“R”Us® after the series finale.

I collect Mattel's main product, Barbie doll and have for years. I thought I would like this t.v. show since it was sponsored by Mattel. Also there were wonderful Mattel toys shown everywhere on the set, and old Mattel catalog covers used on the walls of the set as decor. I thought it was at least going to be somewhat interesting, and at best become a favorite new show for me to watch. I figured they would do some lame " Shark Tank " type stuff except with kids being the ones to be impressed, which they did. But I hoped they might talk about and show the history of Mattel's products in between the lame crap. They didn't. The show was not interesting. The product they eventually chose was o.k. but it doesn't appeal to me since it's not a doll. The children, some of them came off in a bad light and very unappealing.

The show's host had nothing to do and even he seemed to not enjoy working with those very full of themselves kids. What were they thinking? I sincerely hope it doesn't come back for a second season. Mattel is wasting their money there. Are they really so hard up for new toy ideas that they have to do something like this to get new ones? Meanwhile their doll quality has been very spotty in the past few years and yet here they are throwing so much money on this gimmicky show on network t.v. That must have cost millions. Mattel seems to keep making bad decisions and I am afraid it will cause Barbie and their other dolls to slip further or worse, disappear. I wish they would fire whoever keeps making all these crappy decisions and get some fresh and smart new innovative leadership to revitalize them.

And ABC, so many of your shows are just awful now. I know " reality " t.v. shows are bringing in viewers but they're just no content, brainless wonders. " Shark Tank " " The Bachelor/The Bachelorette " they are just truly excrement and though they bring in ratings I sure wish you'd retire them and bring back intelligent dramas that have some meaning. Or are at least well written, well cast, with great wardrobes and pretty sets. Something actually entertaining. Please.
