There's another stove that's similar, but made from a larger diameter aluminum beer bottle called the RUCAS. This one looks repurposed from a Bud Lite bottle, which is mentioned in the RUCAS videos. The RUCAS is, as I said, larger in diameter and the aluminum is thicker, making it a bit heavier, but a lot stronger and has less tendency to tip over. I used a RUCAS to boil water during a power outage after an ice storm back just a couple of years further than this video was originally made. It boiled water fast, and was economical on fuel. Mostly we used it to make coffee, and a couple of freeze-dried meals because we had them.

These pot-pressurized, open-bathtub alcohol stoves are about as simple and functional as you can get. No moving parts, nothing to assemble, nothing to rust or corrode, weighs almost nothing (except for fuel, which can be heavy). They can be real lifesavers!

There is a backpacking stove called 「Twin Turbo」 in Japan. Combining this with a 「White Box」 stove improves fuel economy by about 50%.

Out in the wild and DEF in my house I would use a pot stand! Seeing as how that is a jar of uncovered on fire alcohol! lol

I was expecting some pratt harping on about coke can cookers for free and even siphoning his neighbours petrol because hes to tight to fork out for anything .. this is an awesome stove i lived from one for 8 months in the wilds of scotland, im glad iv re found them , its my new back up when gas is almost impossible to get whilst backpacking

Sorry, I must be missing something. Am I supposed to know what stove that is? Seems to work good but what is it?

Alcohol stoves are simple and effective but they do have their downside. If you look closely at the video you can see the stove move a little as he puts the pot on top. If the stove topples in the wilderness, you've got a possible forest fire started. Secondly, what isn't shown is what you do with the excess fuel in the stove after you are done boiling your water. It isn't always easy getting the excess back in the carry bottle.

Your pot's diameter is too small for the stove; for best results, the flame shouldn't come up around the sides.
