Great video Andy! Once again you've proved how superior vintage machines are to what's made today!

ANDY, , That machine came out beautiful, and it sews so nicely.. excellent restoration job.! The more I see this machine, and how it's made, the more I like it.... I had been sticking to the vintage black Singers (I have 9) because I did not want a modern machine, and I like how well they were built, easy to work on, and quiet.. but after buying my first 237 a few days ago, and watching Andytube videos, and studying the machine, I REALLY like it.!! Nice piece of engineering there... Funny thing is I was scheduled to go look at the machine, before I saw your videos, then the day before I was going to look at it, I saw your video on Stella.! .. So I got to see some of your videos on this machine a day before I went to buy it. Which was great timing.! ... Mine is not running yet "waiting for parts" LOL. (the take up arm assembly, and connections).. my take up arm was bent. and you were right, trying to straighten them, does not work, lol, they just snap off.! .. I should have my parts on Friday. yay.. and your video on the disassembly of the pressure bar, needle bar, bushings, vibrating bracket/etc. was SO HELPFUL..!!! That was an awesome how to video, so detailed.. the BEST!!! THANK YOU.!! I am really looking forward to putting it all back together.!! Can't thank you enough..!

Thank you so much for these videos, for Stella's and for all the others. They so full of good information I am encouraged to work on these vintage machines. I'm expecting a replacement carbon resistance unit next week and am anxious to get the clam shell foot controller back in action.

Your efforts are very much appreciated.

I have this machine. It was my grandmothers and I have been told that it's one of the best machines ever made. Got it out tonight to make face masks for COVID-19 protection. Started out working well and all of a sudden, it won't uptake the bobbin thread. Found the manual online, but it contains no troubleshooting information. I guess i will be doing lots of research tonight.

Thank you for your video Andy, I had my 237 restored for me and it works great. I'd like to take out of the plastic case and put it in a vintage sewing table. I see in your video no hint of the plastic case.

Hi Andy - Thanks very much for producing this excellent series! Although my 237 sews pretty well, I know that I have the ultimate go to reference at my finger tips should I need any help. Thanks again all the best! Mike from the UK

And for your next in-depth series could you get into a singer 306w?

What’s next Andy can’t wait. I was gifted a Singer 27 from a friend. Haven’t played with it yet. Not sure how she sews. Manual says 1902 with vibrating shuttle. Just like the one I had from my 8 th grade graduation gift from my parents 1966

I may need to clean my foot controller?? My 237 won't sew this fast. I've never opened a clamshell foot controller before. I'm going to go search to see if you've done a video on the clamshell foot controller. And I think my 237 is new than yours. It's more light grey and has a different presser foot adjustment, has a feed dog lower knob and the clamshell FC. But it looks the same on the inside. Thanks Andy!

Hello. I have a Stella! The manual from Singer for the 237 doesn't exactly look like need to know how to thread it properly, how to do a bobbin etc. Do you have a video like I really want to use it .... and it is giving me some problems. Thank you!!

Hey Andy, I just found a 237 and that plastic plate right in front with that red S on it is missing the screw right to the left of the left center right lever. I thought I remembered watching a video where that’s not an actual screw, but it is like a clip. Mine is missing so it’s sitting loose there. Is that a screw looking piece I can find at a hardware store or is that specific to a Singer. Or am I totally wrong and is it actually a screw. I kinda looked behind that plastic and I didn’t see any threads on the machine so that’s what led me to thin it’s a clip in there.

The singer 237 is very robust, the proof is that after 50 years, at the date of its manufacture it still works, it can be likened to an industrial one, except that it does not have the double drive at the level of the foot, you compare it to the Sailrite ultrafeed machines apart from the design and the foot, it is the same system as the tension block and the same mechanical system. Personally I use it for layers, I've lost count of the times I've broken needles, but it never got out of sync, no timing needed.
