Can we just stop for 10 seconds and appreciate that Michael Lofton has been interpreting the magisterial documents correctly?

Thank you Michael for clearing up the confusions. It really helped me in my faith, being secured in the Church that Christ founded.

In my family, I have a few cases of divorced relatives (parents included) living with their new partners, mostly for 10-20 years now. Most of them see no problem with this situation as it's sadly the cultural norm now. But should they one day be convinced that the Church has the correct teaching on divorce/remarriage, it will be a tremendously difficult and probably long process to dismantle their lives and go off on their own.

When I think about this it's more clear what the purpose of these blessing are - like throwing a life raft - and why my relatives and their current partners hypothetically presenting themselves together wouldn't inherently imply some insistence on ultimately staying together or having their union approved of. Just a call for help and guidance to do the right thing.

Still some thorny territory and I really hope the Church can contain and correct abuses like Martin's.

Dear Michael Lofton.. Thank you.

You and many more who are giving some insight, clarity, leadership and guidance on this matter, will forever be remembered and you will go down in history in many years to come… as the person who stood up and against…. !! You put your ‘head’ on the block to defend God’s church. We are going through very scary times but we shall keep the faith and trust in Jesus our Saviour.

I do not believe that those who object are somehow anti pope, anti church, or schismatics. Many are honest folk who are concenered about the vagueness and nuance of the letter as it seems to be this popes approach to many things, which of course creates doubt. When Michael has to spend a great amount of time explaining this letter along with others its evident that the letter is not clear or clear enough. I wish there would be some ownership of this rather than circle the wagons. Blessings and prayers for all in a difficult time in the church.

So many Catholics having a whine and moan about this letter.

For most of us, the response to it should be, 'Who cares?'.

It is addressed to priests. To help them minister.

Your commands to love your God, and love your neighbour, HAVE NOT CHANGED.

So get over it and get back to your job of being little Christs to the world.

How can anyone say they love their Catholic Faith, think so poorly of the pope, and be so convinced that Jesus did not keep his promise to guard the truth? Whats the point of believing in the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church?

I really appreciate that you use your platform to emphasize obedience to the Magisterium, when so many Catholic personalities do not do so. It has greatly helped me and affirmed my plan for conversion.

Basically if I feel some type of way about something the Pope has done, I just remember that I have a duty to obey and approach the Magisterium with docility. Viva Cristo Rey

All this reminded me of king David. He ruled but he also suffered a lot of oppositions even from Absalom. King Salomon has opositions at the beginnin with his brother. The Lord himseld advised of the yeast of herodians and pharisees. Thank you and merry Christmas!

In speaking in this way, Michael misleads his audience. The idea that papal infallibility makes any and every theological innovation of a pope to be immune from criticism is neither doctrinally nor historically defensible. And to compare what seems inconsistent with two millennia of teaching and practice with the sustaining of the tradition in Humanae vitae is a very poor comparison. Michael also seems to consider the traditional view---the view held by Charles Cardinal Journet in his work The Church of the Word Incarnate, a work greatly admired by Pope Paul VI—that it is an objectively open question whether a Pope can lose office by reason of formal heresy or not, to be simply false. But that is not the actual status of the question, and any claim to the contrary is unfounded. Michael referring to Müller as warring against the teaching authority of Christ exhibits imprudence. He chastizes a Cardinal for performing his office. Cardinals are not charged to please, but to counsel, the Pope.

So now that Cardinal Fernandez has clarified the document, will Fr. James Martin be subject to corrective action for publicly blessing a same sex union?

Keep standing up for the Truth, so sad to see so many Catholics choosing to fall away and disobey the successor of St Peter just because the Church isn’t conforming to their idolatrous image they have created in their minds of what the Church is.

It is the express job and duty of cardinals to advise the Pope. That's their job. They are supposed to let the pope know when he is in error. That's what cardinals do.

I'm sticking with you and your friends Michael and keep telling others to watch your videos! Merry and Blessed Christmas to everyone! Thank you Lord Jesus for coming to save us! We know you love us and have everything under control. Have mercy on all of us sinners and keep us faithful to Your Church. We praise, bless, glorify, honor and love you dearest Lord!

I quoted the documents by Pius X and Pius XII to someone the other day. I saw you post them in your catechesis of Fiducia Supplicans, and I read through them, and found the paragraphs which you specifically highlighted here, and that person used Cardinal Muller's dissent in response as if that was proof that you can dissent. These people are genuinely so lost.

Whenever I get the feeling that Pope Francis doesn't put enough emphasis on conversion, I remind myself that he literally declared an extraordinary Jubilee year of *mercy* in less than two years after becoming Pope.

He also has the 24 hours for the Lord initiative every lent where the confessionals are open for 24 hours. I'm not sure if it started under his pontificate or if it predates him. I heard about it only a few years back.

What Pope Francis is doing now seems like Hosea 2:14 in my opinion. One may counter saying that in context, Israel first goes through punishment before receiving mercy. However I remember reading that the worst punishment for sin (in this life) is being allowed to fall deeper into sin (Romans 1:24). This is where many are right now and they need a gentle call back to the Father and an approach that will walk along with people who are broken, and maybe don't even know it.

Even a Cardinal who was the former head of the CDF and who issued a statement contrary to the one just issued is not immune from the most severe lapses of faith. It's a good thing we have true Catholic teachers like Michael Lofton to assist us. It will be a proud day for all of us when Michael finally gets his degree in theology.

Yes. Continue to speak out. There are many Catholics right now with viper tongues.
They keep lashing out at me on Facebook.
But we must continue with Catholic truth. Continue your good work.
