My impression was that TN players were much bigger than NCSU players. Indeed, it seemed to me that D. Dorn conceded that by rushing 3 vs 5 (+) in the hope that his remaining 8 could do pass coverage and limit backs who broke through the line to about 5-10 yards per TN was certainly going to score....NCSU's only hope was to score also but fumbles and interceptions destroyed that

Once again, NC STATE falls flat on the national stage under Dave Doeren. The Pack RB Waters (from Duke) doesn't have much, and could only muster 20 yards on 12 carriers versus lowly Western Carolina through most of that game, so pretty obvious he would offer nothing against UT, yet Doeren inexplicably STARTS him. UT ran over that STATE 3-3 Tony Gibson defense for 250 yards. That 3-3 set is obviously futile against good teams, and needs to be left behind for the more traditional 3-4 or 4-3 to give State more size at the point of attack. The offensive line still cannot push anybody off the ball... just the same old, same old from a Dave Doeren team....it never changes. UT looked like a solid football team, while NCSU didn't look prepared, aggressive, or even on the same page as UT.

I though TN used their tight-ends extremely well. NCSt was always looking for that long pass-play that never came, TN used short passes and runs with two tight-end formations causing all sorts of problems for the defense. TN defense looked great,
and they are deep! Rotations going two and three deep didn't hurt them and kept fresh faces in the game.

51 to 10 was awful close, I think someone should have told NC state that they were supposed to keep that game close 😂😂
