I found the perfect model…

There’s a street corner in Yaletown with beautiful foliage in the fall/winter months.

I really wanted to snap some portraits there, so I waited for the perfect person to walk by.

15 minutes later, Lynn walked by with the most beautiful red hair.

She was the perfect model for this backdrop, so I waved her down and asked if I could take her photo.

Initially, Lynn was a little hesitant as she had never really shown her face much online.

I was interested in why (ie. was it a privacy thing, cultural, etc.).

She said she’s mostly just super shy about how she looks.

So she’s never posted photos of her face, and never had a photoshoot before.

This surprised me - as she’s obviously super photogenic!

I just had to show her that.

So I offered to take her photo - and if she didn’t like how they turned out, or still didn’t want me to post it… I would delete it on the spot.

Once she saw the photos, she immediately said yes. 🙏

Fun fact: I scrolled back on her Insta after I met her and didn’t see a single photo of her face.

But a few weeks after this interaction, she posted some photos from her Birthday… and I saw her face!

I actually had tears in my eyes watching this. I see myself in her, I have horrible anxiety around people and I don't see myself as pretty, or as the kind of person someone would stop and ask for photos, but seeing the way you brought out her beautiful personality SO EASILY, and then to see the reveal of the pictures at the end where she actually looks so damn beautiful. I audibly said "woww" at the reveal because she was so pretty. And then I teared up reading the comments, and weirdly enough, felt a bit beautiful myself. That someone as genuine as you can bring out the shine from within people and somehow capture it into frozen memories that they can then keep. It's really beautiful, and motivating. It makes me want to do the same. To bring out people's shine, but I'd have to find a different way, people are also so intimidating HAHAHA!
