Good comparison. Given both were recorded thru same setup I think it's a fair comparison. Do you own the Axe FX II or did you borrow it? I hear a lot of Fractal owners talk about their recorded tone not sounding as good it does live. This may be true but I can't imagine why the HD500(x) would be able to record with such good sound and the Axe Fx II can't. I love my HD500x and for the price you get so much more than anything else out there. I couldn't justify the price of an Axe Fx II after I tested one. I guess my old ears just can't hear the $2500 difference:)

I have a video of me testing my line 6 podhd500x to a qsc k12. Totally blown away! With such a simple setup and only spending not even $1500 it sounds fkn amazing. I highly recommend the podhd500x/qsck12 setup plus it's already built to play live. Yes, ofcourse axefx is what everyone says better which it is but honestly for me it's kinda trendy. Just because all famous artist use it, u have to use it too. Yes, it has more features and etc but think about it, Axefx/mfc/qsck12 $5k awesome sound. Podhd500x/qsck12 $1500 another awesome sound. Do the math. You can buy all the famous expensive gears you want anytime but if you dont know how to tweak ur sound, you can make your axefx sound shit. If you want to downsize ur gear? I think the pod route is the way to go. Both can record, play live, make tone. Diff in price. Just imagine, you only have to bring, podhd pedal, monitor and guitar as to the axefx with rack, mfc, monitor and guitar. Isnt that te point why we all go digital now?
Another thing, if you break the podhd, it's only 499 to get a new one than a 2500 axefx.

In your case then axefx really is the best for you since u PREVIOUSLY owned all those equipment. I played my markv/mesa 212 for many times and i loved it but not my back so i went and go look on even downsizing my equipment more. I end up in debating on pod500x/qsck12 setup ot the axefx/mfc/qsck12. I bought the pod first coz its cheaper and if i didnt like it like what everyone is saying then i'll return it and spend 5k on the axe setup. Well, i was blown away with the $1500 setup, it's sounds fkn amazing i dnt know what people are saying but im totally hands down to the podhd500x. For it's price, you really cant beat it. I saved 3500 and with that i still have my markv setup and now my live setup which is the pod/qsc.

very nice work man although i have to agree on the audio capabilities of ur camera, i cannot hear the bass freq lol. get a dslr camera with audio capabilities like a nikon D90. just a suggestion

How do you like your Matrix GT 800fx for your power supply?  I've been wanting to get either that or the GT 1000fx 2U.

the axe fx is much much better than the pod but the biggest defference is that the pod cost 350€ and the fractal 2350€. and if you upgrade your pod with the line6 DT series amp combo you have just for 1000€ the same sound of valves like the fractal and kemper and you save like 3000€ (cab, power amp, pedalboard, etc)

of course i would like to buy the fractal instead the pod but in my opinion if you play in little clubs, pubs and medium scenarios you can't amortize the fractal.

i have a single rectifier and it's just too much. lacuna coil for example uses line6 in a lot of their live concerts and it is an international band. i could sell my rig to buy the fractal but instead i will buy the "dream rig" as line6 call it (except for the variax guitar, i love ibanez and bc rich guitars) and save some money XD

if your on a budget get the pod it doe the job, if not and if you have a strong back and you want the talk between the amp and guitar buy a real tube amp with a 4 x 12 cab there's nothing like the real deal (which would be the same price as axe fx minus  the pedals blah blah)  sure it will mess up from time to time but we suffer for our art right ?, good playing tho, I enjoyed the vid. thank you for making this vid...btw if you really want THAT tone its real valves all the way. there's no substitute for a real amp, its like vinyl v's mp3...no contest.

hey man, good rip.honestly, i liked the 1st version better.but like you say, the recording quality probably doesn't do it justice.being a bedroom rockstar and budget restrictions, the hd500  hands down. are the new hd500x's any better?  thanks-

Buy the equipment if it will benefit you not because you saw it on ur fav band or a famous artist and you'll see them here and sometimes very specific lol like axefx, matrix, zilla cabs, even cables, wireless, monitors etc etc lol im not saying podhd is better than axefx or the other way around. Im also not saying pod is the way to go because i dont have money to buy an axefx. I have a markv head/mesa 212 if i want to use it. The hype of axefx is just way too crazy. i can honetly say that for the price and its capabilities, the pod beats the axefx all day especially playing live.

What most player are failing to realize that when you tune down anywhere below D like here with the C tuning. Guitar amp are design to project certain mid to high frequencies, when you push all that lower hertz range through the amp it becomes muddy and garbled and in some cases can harm very expensive gear with the result of sound like crap. If your playing those dropped and lower tunings a crossover and bass cabinets with horns would give a much truer tone and no risk of damage to your gear. Then you can have a true vs video and be able to determine which unit is right for your style and tone.
