About Charlie Bolden:
Charlie Bolden was the 12th Administrator of NASA and became the first African American appointed to this position. Among his many highlights during his term in office, he oversaw the transition from the Space Shuttle system to a new era of exploration focused on the International Space Station and aeronautics technology development. He also helped to expand NASA’s international relationships.

Prior to this, he served 34 years in the Marine Corps. He also worked in NASA’s Astronaut Office, during which he travelled into orbit four times and logged over 680 hours in space. He piloted two of those missions and commanded the other two. Even after leaving his post at NASA, Mr Bolden continues to share his leadership and expertise. Previously, as a State Department Science Envoy for Space and currently, as CEO of the Bolden Consulting Group.
