You can also take a small plane directly from Cancun airport to Cozumel. :-) They are Mayair and it's usually $75 one way and take 15 minutes. They usually run Mon-Sat 9am-5pm - but that may be different during the pandemic.

Take the ADO from Cun airport to ferry in Playa. Pick the next ferry. Go to the island. Stay further inland to really have fun.
