The Entropy-Piano-Tuner is an experimental open-source software for piano tuning. This video demonstrates how to operate the application.

After using this software to tune my upright piano, it has never sounded better. It's almost as if after 40 years of owning this piano, I can now hear what it is really sounds like. The creators of this software have provided a great service in making this freely available. I thank them.

I tuned an upright piano with the Entropy-Piano-Tuner (in 2 days :)) which was disregarded since years, beacuse it was 1-1, 5 note out of tune, down. The owner is now VERY pleased... and i am fascinated. Dear Entropy-Piano-Tuner Team, thank YOU for this useful tool! One should keep in mind, that if a note is more than half note out of tune, than the quality indicator wont work. Before tuning these notes, one should tune them roughly into range, than record the note again with inhamonicity detected (=>quality~good), than calculate, than "fine"-tune.

In the rainy season of Japan, piano get lower tuned very fast. So this app is wonderful.
I tuned my piano with EPT today and it became a much better instrument.
Thank you so much for developing and distributing the app for free.

As usual, not easy to find an app that does what’s advertised and free to boot. With care, this app really worked to help me tune my upright. Just can’t rush it, but with small adjustments, it’s back in tune. Thank you!

I live in the centre of france where temperatures can soar to the middle 40s and plunge to minus 15. To enable my piano to stay in tune i would need to enlist the services of a tuner every 3 months. Yr software has been a lifesaver and i am extremely pleased with the result.

I just recently acquired a tuning hammer to take care of a "sour octave" (which I did by ear) and then I stumbled upon this great App and gave it a try (only on lower 1/3 of my Petrof baby grand. WOW - what an awesome improvement it made in the sound of my piano - I wish I had recorded a "before and after", but the bass really sings beautifully now (although it had drifted rather sharp in bass register due to humidity, so this was a pretty easy test!). THANK YOU, SIR - you have my deepest respect and appreciation for this great idea/app/technology - I can't imagine why you are "giving it away for free", but hats off to you! Physicist rock (and I'm an engineer, so that is hard for me to utter!).

I tuned my rhodes piano last weekend with this program. I was skeptical at first and every single note was registering as low quality. I had a USB condenser plugged in with the right level and gain set. This program just is not designed for those types of sine waves i guess. despite this I continued through and every note recorded first try no problem. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to configure 73 keys E to E. Tuning was straightforward and only took a few minutes to get the hang of. Even though i had little confidence following through, the result was a perfect tuning and the best tuning ive ever done. In the past I have tried tuning my Acoustic piano a few times with mixed results, but eventually got frustrated and hired a professional. Ive tried tuning my rhodes a few times before, with sligthly better results than acoustic tuning but still not perfect. With this program Im going to try my acoustic next.

A lot of people tend to give their old piano's away for free here in my country. I told my mum about it and she said she'll think about getting one. Of course these piano's will be out of tune (Also stated in the adverts) so I'm just preparing of what might be coming my way. This will save us 75 euros a year. I get why it's high priced as it takes some time to tune a piano, but is still is pretty expensive. Thanks for the free software. I've looked through it already and it looks simple and straight forward. Thanks for the good tutorial!
