This is actually wrestling vs or was, until it got banned. In wrestling it's known as Doublewrist lock. It used to be one of the most popular holds in wrestling, if not the most popular.

There's youtube video on Mark Shultz using this move against Turkey's Karabachek as late as the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. Quite brutal to watch.

The kimura trap is even present in John Wick, so it must be effective !

I do it from wizzer first. I always throw that wizzer in first to stifle/stop their momentum and the go for it after they’ve stopped bumrushing.

Hey Keenan, I doubt you'll see this comment but I wanted to publicly say thanks for helping me with my bjj. I've watched your videos for a while and learned a lot. As someone who started bjj at 45 years old, your videos are super helpful. I came by your gym a few weeks ago and met you, but you were working out. I recently moved to Riverside, CA but will definitely come visit Legion again! Thanks again.

Keenan ty for all of your tutorial vids. Ive been watching and following you for a long time and have learned so much from u. I first started training in 2006 and have sorta been off and on due to work, life, and other things but ive never been away from bjj for long. Ive done multiple ibjjf tourneys as well :). I have this technique ive always used with the kimura and just wanted to run it past you and tell me what u think and if youve ever done it yourself...it seems to always work for me even with the higher lvl grapplers. Once i get into side control and i'm on top i love work on the kimura from that position. Once I get the kimura from side control it feels like I have so much control of their body and i tend to transition it right into an armbar. So for instance if Im on the left side of their body i will get the kimura lock on their right arm..spin around their head then drop back for the armbar..as im sliding down the arm I break the kimura lock and finish with traditional grips on the arm.
A few things work against the guy on bottom so if they are not paying attention its not that difficult to get the kimura. First is when they try to turn into you and second is how they keep their arms in close when on the bottom.

Thank you again Keenan for sharing all of your knowledge with us.

Americana from mount to armbar then triangle (if opponent sequentially defends) is my favourite sequence use the kinura trap to take mount our take back. Beautiful technique and well explained.

Thank you, Keenan!
Since we can't really train at the moment due to the quarantine, it's a great time to work on grasping some concepts.

Awesome. And I think for your setup you would love a decent boom mic like an NTG3 or MKH416 with a sturdy mic stand like a Hercules boom or a good C-Stand. Way better quality and consistency and you'd totally eliminate the brushing against the mic.

I love this dude's content. Very well made and informative. His deadpan eyes make me think he might be a sociopath, but who am I to say?

Literally just trained this an hour before the post. Love the back take and leg scissors chokes with it!
