Metal Detecting Tot Lot w/Pirate Pro

In this video I hit a tot lot at a local park to do some land hunting with the Pirate Pro. Enjoy!

I was swinging my detector at the base of a sliding board one day when a curious kid approached. The grass was pretty thick underneath and I was pushing the coil into it. The kid chimed in and informed me, "That thing will never cut that grass unless you start it up!"

No mulch filled parks here. Lots of fields and old house sites though. Great video, and nice finds.

well great video Kay, here in SC when i hunt the kiddie parks with my new whites mxsport you helped me to get, the peopleini the neighborhood dont like us metal people digging in their kids parks. almost got arrested twice for digging in the parks. you do a great job. love all your videos

I once found a key to a master lock in a kiddy sand box, two minutes later, I found the lock that went with it! I still have that lock. I donts generally hunt playgrounds as much now that my kiddos grew up. I still hunt playgrounds and parks. I once found a 14k dolphin bracelet that matched the necklace my sister bought. When she told me she had the necklass, It was a no brainer. I have never found any gold earrings and it might be gold bothers peoples ears. I have found a few sterling silver ones. Not many gold rings eather. Metal detecting is still fun for me, just not the getting back up part. lol.

I use a screwdriver to dig in parks. Some diggers use ice picks. Faster retrieval.

I HIT THE TOT LOT AND VOLLEYBALL COURTS AT A PARK YESTURDAY WITH THE EXCALIBUR 2...IN 1 HR I FOUND 42 CENTS, MY FIRST QUARTER IN THE FIRST 5 MINS, ONE SILVER LARGE STAR PENDANT AND TWO OTHER FAKE PENDANTS...GOING AGAIN TO ANOTHER PARK TODAY...THIS SHIT IS ADDICTIVE AS HELL...I GET EXCITED WHEN I HEAR THAT BEEP BEEP SOUND

THE PROBLEM AT THE TOT LOT IS THAT THERE'S TOO MUCH METAL INTERFERENCE WHEN YOU GET CLOSE TO THE RIDES, I SUGGEST YOU LEAVE THE SHOVEL AT HOME...YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOK LIKE YOUR THERE TO TEAR UP THE GROUND

That "chirp" the detector makes is it's way of telling you there is a target under the coil that has been discriminated out. My old Fisher 1235X does that.

Probably not the best idea to have a shovel like that in a tot-lot. Some folks might want to kick you out, or change the rules to keep you out, which is a shame, especially when you're removing trash. Go down to Wally World, in the gardening section, and get a plastic, three-tine, hand rake. It's small enough to fit into that bag you use for your targets, and makes quick work of recovering targets. Plus, they're only about a dollar.
