After the campfire got released, I never used a furnace after that, like literally, it takes up no fuel, plus, it's smoke can mimic a chimney, yes it does have a slower cooking time, but still, it's a great add-on to the game.

smokers actually has another 2 flaws:
1: It uses fuel twice as fast
2: It only rewards you with half the experience for the cooked food compared to furnaces (campfires don't even reward you with any xp lol).

I usually use campfires because it feels more natural when you're out in the wild.

Me and my friends had built a lot of small spaces that are meant for you to be able to do sth before going back to your trip: cook food, fish, sleep for the night (and maybe even put their items in the chest and transport them with the minecart from one "stop point" to another)
