I kind of like whippoorwills, but barred owls! They're something else! I once had 2 of them outside my tent plotting my demise! They're scary 😂

Freezing rain is great when you're sitting inside in the warmth watching the trees glistening. Until a branch breaks and the power goes out. LOL! The bird cracked me up. We had a mocking bird that sat outside my home office and would start in about the time I had a conference call. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent list! A thru hike will never be 100% perfect and happy every minute. It's really helpful to know some of the negative aspects so we can prepare accordingly. Ps. I find leap-frogging really annoying too. I'm not sure why. 🤔

Whippoorwills are the absolute worst!! We have them in abundance in Alabama. 🦑

While it’s not the greatest tactic I find if you mimic the whiporwill song in your head when one is carrying on you’ll sleep some maybe possibly 😊

My number one hate is road walking! Hate it! Especially descending road walking. It's not peaceful and it kills my knees. We just finished the West Highland Way in Scotland and the last two and a half miles to the end is a road walk along a busy highway. I had been told about this, but I was not mentally prepared! The rest of the walk is so beautiful, but that road walk is soul-killing!

Omg the annoying bird! I feel you 😂 the car wash sounds annoying too. I was wondering how bad can the mud be while going downhill instead of uphill, it must be like a slide.
