The origin of this comment is that I would like to pin a comment so I can say: hi :)

Although her victory poses are Smash Original, Peach's "Oh! Did I win?" line (even if technically first in Melee) was used as her Mini Game victory line for Mario Party 6 and 7.

I love Peach saying "Aw, did I win?" It just has this snark to it that you wouldn't normally see from Peach.

I have an idea for other references in Smash Ultimate if ur running out of ideas:
- Origin of every stage entrance
- Origin of every Spirit (by Class) (probably want to separate by many parts)
- Every clapping/ No-Contest animation
- Evolution of every idle animation

Thanks for keeping Smash alive! 👍

Should of mentioned that Mewtwo's victory screens actually have him talking, though only on the Japanese versions of Smash.
The three phrases he says are "Why am I here?", "I cannot lose." and "Foolish".

You could’ve also mentioned how Ice Climbers are unique in that their losing/no contest animation is one of the only animations of its kind with an origin, since it is actually a reference to their animation when failing the bonus game in Ice Climber

10:34 the part with him holding out his hand is a direct reference to Ocarina of Time, both to the vision Link has of Ganondorf at the start of the game and to the scene it's predicting where Zelda flees from Ganondorf on horseback with Impa, in both, Link is approached by Ganondorf, who holds out his palm in the same fashion as the victory animation.

There are two things that I want to point out that I don't see in the comments.

1) Ganondorf's victory animation where he laughs is more based on a scene in Twilight Princess (after the horseback Ganondorf fight), where Ganondorf laughs out loud then strikes a more serious face. The reference is more loose in Ultimate since we are now working with Ocarina of Time Ganondorf, but in Brawl (the game where the victory pose originated from) the reference is much more clear as he laughs in pretty much exactly the same way (not just the voice, but the way he laughs).

2) The other is Game & Watch's victory theme. While it is indeed, well... a remix of beeps and boops, it is actually based on the Flat Zone 2 theme composed in Brawl. This can be more seen when compared to his victory theme in Melee, where in that game, the victory theme has very similar vibes to the Flat Zone theme made in that game.

I believe Mewtwo’s left victory screen might’ve also token inspiration from his entrance animation from Pokémon Stadium, since he does take a step and reach his arm out in both smash and Stadium.

Fun fact: Doc used to have one of his victory animation shared with Mario Where he jumps and strikes a pose, though it was changed to him rubbing his chin Starting in smash 4

Aaron: "Falco has the highest jump of all the Smash Cast."
Sora: "Hold my keyblade for me."

- Peach's first victory pose may have drawn some inspiration from official artwork, where she was sometimes depicted with her parasol, often in a similar pose.
- likewise, her third victory pose here draws inspiration from thanking Mario and co in all his adventures (usually giving Mario a kiss on the cheek or nose), using hearts as it is also her motif in pretty much the entire series by now. Funnily enough, the first one to do the thank with a heart is actually Daisy in Super Mario Land, lol.
- the stance Sheik takes in her second victory pose in this vid bears some ressemblance to her Sm4sh render, notably in the hand position. This would, by proxy, also make it a reference to Sheik's identity reveal in OoT, where she did the same hand pose. It's not 1-to-1 to the pose itself, but the similarities are there and worth noting.
- Ganondorf's second victory pose's hand positioning could also be seen as a reference to how he casts magic in OoT, that being with his open palm. I doubt this is "just to make him EEEEVIIIL", rather it's because he IS evil, so the source material already does that for him.
- I would say Mewtwo's first victory pose is actually more reminiscient of his Sm4sh render (just flipped) rather than his Ultimate one.
- The end pose of Roy's second victory pose also looks quite similar to hise idle with the Binding Blade equipped in Fire Emblem The Binding Blade, though with slight tweaks to make it work with the camera and as more of a victory pose than an idle.

8:15 The pose struck at the end is a specific reference to Marth’s depiction in the 3ds era of Fire Emblem games. The pose is what you can think of as the sort of “idle animation” for characters of the Lord and Great Lord classes for units.

This link is to a clip of Marth as he appears in Fire Emblem Fates striking this very pose:

Aaron: The up victory pose has Mewtwo turn away from the camera, all edgy like.
Shadow: Hold my Chaos Emerald, I am the Edgiest and have a score to settle.

5:19 Pretty sure there are artworks of Doctor Mario with this pose
6:05 May come from the johto OVAs that feature a pair of Pichus
7:20 From Starfox command
8:15 That pose originated in Fire Emblem Awakening on Chrom, this victory scene it's then a refence to how Chrom it's a descendant from Marth
8:57 He's making a Kokiri Pose
12:00 Might resemble Roy's attack animation when wielding the Sealed Sword
12:17 Also might be a reference to his attack Animation but this time a Critical Hit

I was hoping Aaron was gonna mention Mewtwo speaking in Japanese when you set the language to Japanese in Smash Bros Ultimate. That broke my heart lol

I wish the victory themes were more individualized.

I think Marth’s up victory screen seems to be based on his 1994 Volume 1 cover pose for the Shadow Dragon and The Blade of Light Manga

And Roy’s up victory pose is based on his battle sprite pose from the Binding Blade which is why lots of artwork has him in said pose.

The pose in Ganondorf's third victory animation is the same one in Ocarina of Time's cutscene after he gains access to the Temple of Time.
