If you are using cross-view, PLEASE sit back a few feet from your monitor!!! The geometry of the two images is perfect, so sitting back a few feet should NOT make it totally comfortable to watch.

It worked amazingly well, cross-eyed! At one point I started to see three images, then I covered the corners of my sight with my hands so I could see only the middle image and voilà! It was blurry at first, but after a while the image got sharp, even! Fantastic.

RealD Glasses work using polarized lenses. Which filter out light from specific directions.
You can get cheep Rec/Cyan glasses for Anamorphic 3D.
Also YT provides other viewing options.
I prefer the Cross-Eyed viewing method. Which dose not require any equipment, but it will take some practice learn how to do it.

Not exactly. You have to upload a stereo video--that is, dual images--one set (usually shot through one lens) for left eye, another for right. Render as for cross-eyed viewing, upload, and THEN add the yt3d:enable=true as last tag line, and that's it.
YouTube encoding takes care of all the viewing variations such as parallel, cross-eyed, red/cyan, etc.
