Before we begin the recovery process, there are a few important things you need to do:

Step 1: Preparation
Stop using the SD card immediately: If you've accidentally formatted or deleted photos from your SD card, avoid using it further. Writing new files to the card could overwrite the data you want to recover, reducing the chances of successful recovery.

Step 2: Remove the SD card from your device
Take out the SD card from your camera, phone, or any other device it's inserted in. This prevents accidental saving of new files on the card, which could interfere with the recovery process.

Step 3: Use trusted data recovery software
I recommend using Disk Drill for its simple and convenient user interface. It has demonstrated excellent results for recovery and supports popular formats such as RAW, CRW, CR2, CR3, NEF, NRW, ARW, SRF, SR2, and other file formats. It's suitable for all popular SD and micro SD cards from such brands as SanDisk, Samsung, Transcend, Lexar, and others. Disk Drill is available for both Mac and Windows PC, with a free version allowing recovery of up to 500 megabytes of data for Windows users.

📌To recover lost photos from an SD card follow these steps:
Connect the SD card to your computer: Ensure the SD card is directly connected to your computer. Avoid scanning it while it's still in the device. Most new devices use Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), which doesn't allow direct scanning of device memory and memory cards.

Start the scanning process: Launch Disk Drill and select the connected SD card. Begin the scanning process, which may take some time depending on the size of your SD card and the amount of data on it. Disk Drill will display real-time scan results and the estimated time for completion.

Review the scan results: Once the scanning process is complete, Disk Drill will present the results in different categories: Deleted or lost, existing, and reconstructed. The deleted or lost category includes files that Disk Drill managed to recover with a deep scan. The existing category contains files that are still on the memory card and haven't been deleted. You may also find hidden files you didn't know were there. The reconstructed folder includes files found using a signature scan, which may have random names or default values.

Preview and select deleted images from the SD card you need to recover: In the scan results, Disk Drill provides a file preview feature, especially helpful for files that have lost their original names. You can use filters to search for specific files by name, date of modification, or file type. Alternatively, you can click the "Recover All" button to recover all files immediately. Select erased photos from the SD card you want to recover.

Choose a different save location: It is crucial not to restore the pictures to the same SD card you're recovering from. Select a different save location, such as your computer's hard drive or another storage device. This ensures you don't accidentally overwrite any more data on the original SD card.

Verify the integrity of the files: Once the files are restored, open the folder and verify the integrity of each file. Check if it's the one you've lost, ensure the correct file size, and confirm that it matches what you were trying to recover.

Organize and use the recovered files: Move the restored files to your local folders, rename them if necessary, and start using them.

Disk drill is asking to download premium for $90 as there are about 3000 photos to be recovered. Can’t this be done free?

Purely an ad video; tried to recover less than the 500MB limit and it still insists on the purchase of an upgraded plan.

If I do not have a MAC but a different laptop, and I connect my camera's memory through USB cable, will it have the same results, because I do not have a port to insert my SD card directly

What is the point of the recovery software propagating results for”existing” files. Why would someone restore existing files? Also, i haven’t been able to figure out why my Disk Drill is not discovering any of my .CR3 files… i know that have deleted a lot of them.
