The brief rebellion in Moscow, explained

The leader of a powerful mercenary group sent his troops marching toward Moscow on Saturday, seizing a major military base and key installations along the way. Tensions between Wagner boss Yevgeniy Prigozhin and Russia’s military leaders have been building for months over decisions about the war in Ukraine.

The troops turned around after a deal was brokered by Belarus. But this was a stunning challenge to President Vladimir Putin’s authority and could weaken him further.

Only unrealistic part of this is that the yes men weren't half a kilometer away.

Not a coup; a negotiation into retirement.

Edit: Negotiations did not go well 😅

The idea of Yes men is strangely a simple yet disturbing concept, I mean an ocean research company hired a yes man who agreed with the safety rating of a certain submarine.

The funniest part of all of this was how for a split moment redditors started support wagner mercenaries, even though they've hated their guts for months.

Think of the construction workers in Russia that had to dig up their highways to stop the convoys only to have to fill it back up and repair it the next morning.

Quick note: The Wagner Group was in southeast Ukraine and took Rostov-On-Don across the border in southern Russia first, then took Voronezh which is north of Ukraine and then moved towards Moscow.
Great video tho!

He never had a chance to take Moscow. He was over 10 hours away and didn't remotely have enough men and no air support. He was hoping that he'd be able to rally generals and politicians and 5th columnists to turn on Putin but no one joined him. That's why he took a deal and gave up.

Imagine being a spy and being a leader of your own country and accidently dismantle the government because of your mistakes

Fun fact: The Russian FSB as of now has not dropped the charges against Prigozhin. Wagner might just retreat into Belarus and try again later.

It's pretty amusing that Prigozhin thought Putin would actually let him go.

I just want to say I’m really loving these recaps. It’s a great idea. I’m sure it helps reach a broader audience with the news. Smart to finally evolve with the times
