Georgios Grivas (6 June 1897 – 27 January 1974), also known by his nickname Digenis (Greek: Διγενής), was the Greek Cypriot founder and leader of the Greek Monarchist paramilitary organisation "Organization X" (1942–1949) and the Greek Cypriot pro Enosis organisations "EOKA" (1955–1959) and "EOKA B" (1971–1974). A staunch Greek Monarchist, Grivas is known in both Greece and Cyprus for his actions against communism and pro monarchist sentiments in post WW2 Greece and praised as the liberator of Cyprus from British rule.
