Permafrost - what is it?

What is permafrost? What happens when permafrost thaws? This animation answers these questions.
Scientists at the Alfred Wegener Institute conduct annual expeditions to the polar regions in order to understand the diverse processes in the permafrost an to precisely assess the impacts of it´s degradation.

Perma-Frost is a safety seal between the viral disasters that were, a long-long time ago and the world that hasnt had to deal with those monsters in sometimes, a millennia or more.
And when it finally melts back, it releases all those dormant and deadly virus' again, into the unsuspecting world. A special thank you, goes out to all those med science curiosity seekers who have once more, rereleased some of those monsters into our world.
