It's time we take a look at another place of interest in the Kanto region in a little series I'm calling...Tour of Kanto. Is this place tropical? Is it icy? All I do know is that it's the Seafoam Islands.

Special thanks to Mah-Dry-Bread for allowing me to use his save file from the Red Version.

I really like that you use the old art when talking about the original games and newer art for the newer games

Articuno is also the only legendary bird who's location is known to the player before going to said location. Articuno can be spotted looking through the binoculors west of Fuscia City

"There are no first stage ice types in generation I. This is a clever reference by Game Freak to the fact that, if you leave a child out in a snowstorm, it will die."

I think canonically, in Gen 1, it's intended for the player to go through the cave to reach Cinnabar. You're already in Fuchsia when you unlock the new abilities to move boulders and ride over the water. The next logical step is to surf down from there and into the cave. The boulder puzzle is made to be completed from the Fuchsia side; going in through the Cinnabar side first brings you down to the high current, which spits you out at the bottom, and you backtrack up the Fuchsia side. But you have to complete the puzzle to cross the current to the Cinnabar side. Given that it was common knowledge you could just fly to Pallet instead and surf down, this whole route became optional.

You should continue this series finishing up Kanto and then moving through johto and hoenn, etc. these are incredibly entertaining to watch in my downtime and would love to watch this viewpoint about all regions (might be excessive)

Fun Fact: The anime version of Seafoam Island is actually NOT Seafoam Islands from the games. It's actually a beach town near Pallet Town named Binnes in the Japanese version.

There is something oddly therapeutic about these videos just talking about the various locations from RBY and the Pokémon in them, with pauses to take it all in,

6:19 fun fact: the Ice type in gen 1 is apparently the only type in the series where none of the Pokemon with that type can evolve. They're all either final evolutions (Cloyster, Dewgong) or single-stage Pokemon (Jynx, Lapras, Articuno)

I absolutely have been in love with this series. I still play RBY and GSC to this day.

I originally stumbled across Seafoam Islands because it never occurred to me to fly to Pallet Town and head south. When I found the exit I thought to myself "this reeks of progress" so I went back in and explored more thoroughly. That's when I found Articuno. After trying to capture it normally and losing my entire team, I decided to just chuck the Master Ball at it and call it a day. When I got to Cinnabar I immediately added it to my team and was distinctly disappointed in how it fared against Blaine's gym. Still my favorite legendary to this day, and one of my overall favorite mons.

Slowbro's tail is a cut Pokemon called Taaban. It was shown in a Spaceworld '97 Gold/Silver demo

Suggestion: Do a double feature on Viridian Forest and Diglett's Cave. Probably not enough for one of those places to have an episode, but both kinda are connected since it's the only way to get back mid-game because of Mt. Moon having that random ledge. You can talk about how weird it is that Flash is so completely out of the way and stuff like that.

Based on its placement and the route numbering, it looks like it was supposed to be an obstacle on your way to get to Cinnabar as a late-game counterpart to Mount Moon (and a good way to get water types before Blaine if you need one), with Route 21 being intended to be used to get from Cinnabar back to Pallet Town rather than vice versa, but either due to an oversight or intentionally, the game doesn't enforce that route at all.

I imagined it was supposed to look like two separate islands at high tide. When FRLG didn't give the land between the two mounds those shallow water tiles from Hoenn I was disappointed.

These videos give me the warm fuzzy comfort vibes.

If the day ever comes where he ends with "Paraspectre won't return", I will be very sad.

Great video, as always!

Krabby and Kingler are so cool as a concept, they just suck so bad especially in OG gen1 and even fire red/leaf green due to the special split

...Gonna be blunt. You were still right from the beginning about the pronunciation of Kanto.

Don't forget, the Pokemon dubs gave us "Jelly Filled Doughnuts".

The way they pronounce it is wrong. Listen to that line in Japanese. I bet you they said it how you did.
