Growing Kangkong in Containers Asian Summer Water Spinach

I am excited about this amazing asian spinach that grows in the summer heat. It's such a healthy, tasty plant and so versatile.
It has a mild taste,,a bit like sweet Lettuce.
It grows easily in wet ground or in a container, just as long as it has access to lots of clean water.

Always wanted to grow this since I moved back to the U.S. from the Philippines. I became addicted to Kangkong while there. Thanks for the great tutorial!

I always plant them here in France in the summer months. I just buy them from the Asian store, cook the leaves but leave the stems off. I then soak the stems in water and after a few days, roots are growing. I then transplant them outside late May. It is just so hard to find some seeds here. I so love them. Always my favorite even when I was stil in my motherland, Philippines. Thanks for the video.

Thailand its called pak boong. There is a restaurant in Thailand called "Flying Pak Boong". It is served stir fried with garlic, chilly and fish sauce and when your order is ready they ring a bell and launch it over the customers (outdoor seating) and a guy runs with a wok and catches it!!!! (No BS!!!).

My fave vegie. When I was a kid my mom used to grow this in a pond and sell them to market in Indonesia. Now that I moved to US, and it cost me $10/kg (2lbs). I’m planning of growing this myself.

I grow this by the Kratky method. I have plenty for my smoothies. I didn't know it helped hair and skin and couldn't understand why my hair was getting thick again and my skin was getting less dry. Great video thank you. If you are still around I would like to know if I can freeze this so I always have some handy. I want to grow tons this summer. I also wonder if we can grow them with a wick in water and soil. So many possibilities. We are praying for all you folks during the horrific fires.

The reason two did not form roots is because there were no nodes near the bottom, roots only grow from nodes where the buds are.

Cut the bottom of the cuttings about 1cm below the node.

Great vid.
