Straight up dude, you got it right on! Standard M1 is for content creators. The M1 Pro is great for power users, the Max is for no compromise professionals. Glad to hear you like the M1 Air, and welcome to the Mac echo system. If you get an iPad (iPhones work to!) you can connect this to your Mac and use it as a touch interface remote, live musical performance or with ANY instrument app. There are some unique FX apps, instruments and synths that were designed by aliens from another dimension. As you said, the M1 chip is still very powerful, and it's cheaper than the newer models. I think it's going to be decent to get a MacBook Air M1 for most of the people who want to make music. I still use MacBook Pro 2015 13 inch model, and it works pretty fine. When I had a problem, I put more than 40 tracks on a project using a bunch of 3rd party plugins such as Ozone and Nectar. However, I decided to get a new MacBook Pro because it has more ports so it's going to be very helpful for my graphic design work. The M1 MacBook Air has just 2 thunderbolt ports, so it must be so annoying when I have to connect with a monitor and SSDs at the same time. Thank you for the great video! 🍻

The new M1Pro and Max chips are no different to the M1.Its the same chip just with more CPU, GPU and Memory. Its not the different chips, it's the architecture that's important. Arm vs Intel X86 . It's also important to know that you can't do a hybrid of running stuff native and through Rosetta. It's either the one or the other. So it will really live up to it's potential once everything can be run native. For example if you use pro tools you won't be able to run anything native until the chosen DAW is Native!! So it doesn't matter if you buy the Mac Book Air or the new Mac Book Pros. They will run the same way just with more or less power. Like i said it's about everything being Native at a point. Mostly everything is compatible with Big Sur now, which u can run on all of them. Realistically speaking the transition for audio might very well take 6-12 more months...Not saying though that Rosetta won't be enough. Unfortunately there is not too much real world test for that yet and many many mixed reports about experiences. Some say everything works fine others say they a lot of issues. Another big problem apparently is that Ilok needs to be native too for a lot of companies to release their Native plugins... Hope this helps some people...
