Police confirm a 12-year-old boy is dead and another was badly injured in a car crash Thursday afternoon in Akron.

Authorities say the vehicle crashed around 2:45 p.m. while taking part in a funeral procession somewhere between North Arlington Street and 6th Avenue. While details remain scarce, at least one of the children was ejected from the car, according to officials.

The 12-year-old boy died from his injuries, and his name has not yet been released. The second child, just 6 years old, is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

Following the collision, a separate argument broke out between people who were "connected to the incident" and gunshots were fired, resulting in a 19-year-old man being hurt. He later drove himself to the hospital with non-life-threatening injures.
