Don 'The Dragon' Wilson's Blackbelt Review

I decided to ingratiate myself into the films of Don 'The Dragon' Wilson. What did I get myself into.

Oh man, the straight to video world of early/mid '90s martial arts flicks starring the likes of Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Billy Blanks, Cynthia Rothrock among others were my jam in those days before I discovered HK action. They certainly didn't age well...at all, lol, but I still hold a certain fondness for them.

Okay if you want arguably the best of Don Wilson's movies, it's the RING OF FIRE trilogy. Check out those three movies if nothing else.

You should review all of his movies, but the next one should check out is “Ring Of Fire”. You’ll feel that the choreography is the same as black belt, but I feel the story is better and notice a few people in the movie could have been bigger stars (and some do). Also good representation of Asians in America for an early 90s film

Of all my movies, this would be the last one I would suggest anyone watch. Try "Red Sun Rising". It has some good "Co-Stars" and I liked the script. It was one of my 4 "HBO World Premieres". Thanks for the review! I'm happy you watched it EVEN if you didn't like it.

Most of his films made more foreign sales than domestic, hence why there's so many. This movie has a decent title that's about it lol

Now I haven't seen it in a long time, but Bloodfist 2 had some interesting and campy things in it. It's kind of like a bunch of renown martial artists get kidnapped and put on this island to fight the main bad guy's army of steroid infused martial artists. I think they were trying to sell the enhancement drugs to war lords or something and this was supposed to be proof that it worked. It also has an funny fight scene where a guy fights from a seated position in the middle of the ring.

I could never get into Don the dragon Wilson's fighting. His movement and just the way he fights feels off. And it has nothing to do with the time his movies came out because I believe Billy Blanks looks great when he fights and that's the same era. Don always looks like he needs more training.
