Every caustic nerf is secretly a buff, the less people that play him, the less people will be on the lookout for traps

Caustic main here: the past few days of play here, only two or three times ever has a team shot my bags, most still start to get hurt and just run. Or hang out in it and die. It’s wild nobody even tries it seems.

As a Caustic main I will say I hardly notice the difference and even when they do shoot traps it’s just time for me to shoot them. The biggest annoyance now is nade spamming my traps because that definitely works to get rid of my gas.

He didn’t need that nurf to destroying the traps. I would buff him if anything. Maybe the ability to stick the traps on walls/ceilings

I never actually found caustic annoying. If anything I think they should have changed gibby and or fuse instead. Caustic is so good because of his ability to completely shut down pushes, which is why he’s a defensive character. Unlike wattson and especially gibby. It kind of ruins his whole play style, because that gas lingering for literally like 2 seconds doesn’t really matter unless you’re in a super tight area. Not to mention his ability to seek cover behind his barrels was really nice although you would still die most of the time. I’m not necessarily upset but as someone who really found joy in playing caustic (not a caustic main) I just don’t find him nearly as useful as he used to be

150 damage is still a lot to deal mid fight, doing that to a trap while a squad is shooting you is still very deadly

I honestly hated this nerf, and I don't even actually use caustic nearly at all (just cause I prefer small hit boxes). I mean they could have balanced him in lots of ways, but since day 1 one of the main features of caustic has always been him being able to hold doors, that was his main thing c'mon. And TRAPPING people, I think it's just insane we can now destroy activated gas traps. Remember the good old days where in bunker you had to be careful and checking on the doors not to get trapped inside? And for anyone saying he was too annoying or too op, I remember using him in medium competitive lobbies and you wouldn't even have the time to shoot your own gas trap that the enemy easily deactivated it by shooting it at the bottom. He was never too overpowere honestly, and considering how large and "empty" (lack of buildings) are the new maps, he should still have indestructible traps

I’ve maimed him since season 4 and even after the “nerfs” I think he is a very crucial part to teams especially in ranked as I have 5k kills 4 k badge 20 kill badge and 7 time pred I think he is still one of the most important part of teams

When the canisters are destroyed, the gas does linger for I think 2 seconds, but it no longer does damage, so enemies can immediately push, they just can't see well

they should bring back the invincible barrels. change his gas by making the barrels radius more than the normal but increasing damage and no slow down when going through. that way the gas spreads throughout the area, still does damage and be very scary.

I don’t have him I’m a Rev main most of the time but I think it does make him seem more reasonable to use, he’s another form of Watson now or visa-versa with both their traps being destroyable and them not being to annoying to challenge without taking away his viability

Caustic is my current main. I’ve had to innovate and hide my traps better so they don’t just get destroyed. Annoying but makes locking down a building much more satisfying lol

I've never had anyone destroy my traps yet, it feels like no one is even aware of the ability to destroy it

He is definitely worth using, if you watched ALGS he was the third/fourth most picked character in the entire tournament 💯

I dont play apex for almost 2 years now. And im still watching some competitive videos out there. I think caustic in a right hand and team is so impactful when zoning out enemy and limit the benefit of shield swap tactic that usually utilized by pros (since his gas directly hit health). I think he just need some passive buff to make his lack of mobility, Something like having passive health/shield regen when all his team is downed. I think its interesting to see some big hit box champion become last man standing-type of champion.
