DWARF 3 Smart Telescope - FULL REVIEW

I’ve had the Dwarf 3 out in the backyard for the last 2 weeks for some deep-sky astrophotography.

In this video, I’ll show you the images the Dwarf created from the data (the auto stack) and compare them with versions using my own processing techniques.

You can use the Dwarf 3 to capture the sun, the moon, galaxies, star clusters, and nebulae. Planets, however, are tiny at this focal length.

As always, I was not compensated in any way to create this video, nor does the company have any say in my review (or get to see it before it goes out).

Great video Trevor!..I have the dwarf 2 and love it!...Camping up north by the fire, chatting, while watching Andromeda stack on my tablet... incredible!...and introduces the masses to what we love!

I am converted. In terms of actually teaching, galaxy and nebula formation, teaching cosmology and time this seems like a wonderful platform to jump immediately into the structures that make up the backbone of our universe. I think my children would love it.

Trevor, thanks for the reviews and information that you share. Your creativeness and editing keeps me coming back for more. Clear skies.

I used the Dwarf II a lot in the beginning because it was so quick and easy to set up. These days, I don’t use it as much since the battery no longer holds a charge, and I feel like I’ve gotten everything I needed out of it. The Dwarf 3, though, looks like a major upgrade, much cleaner results with the new sensor and AI noise reduction.

Great video! It was really well put together and a pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing!

Have been waiting for this video since the Dwarf 3 started shipping. Staying with my Dwarf 2 for the time until things stabilize.

Plate solving is wonderful. The major frustration of amateur astronomers has been achieving and maintaining alignment - 2 star, 3 star, polar etc. Dwarf 3, Seestar 50, etc utlize technology to eliminate that headache. Some manufacturer needs to come up with an integrated mount and finder and camera with integrated software to which you add an OTA. That would be a real game changer for astrophotography.

Nice review Trevor. I think the dwarf 3 looks like a good little portable scope. I like its scenery capabilities too! It's something to consider when travelling for sure.

I think the Dwarf 3 is what im going to go for. I've barley dipped my toe into astrophotography so something that makes things easier but allows me to learn is ideal. With a new baby in the house being able to set it outside and come back inside is also a great feature. I also like the terrestrial mode as I'm a keen birdwatcher and getting video and pictures of birds and wildlife appeals as well. Thanks for the video and the review.

Wouldn't mind getting both....the Dwarf 3 and the S50😊 Have the best of both worlds!

Videos like this anger the astronomy gatekeepers like ed ting. How dare you enjoy astrophotography without spending thousands of dollars of equipment and hundreds of hours fiddling with obtuse image processing software.

Hi Trevor, Excellent report, as usual. IMHO, a comparison between this and other smart scopes would be helpful. Especially the differences between these products. Why one product might be more suited to a user. Thanks for all the study, planning, and execution of this video analysis.

Thanks for a very good and informative video Trevor, we’re all stoked when you make another one, I’ve been following you for a few years now and find there’s so much to help me with the hobby in your videos .
I’ve had a Dwarf3 on order since May 2024 and have just heard this morning from DwarfLab that a batch in now in their UK warehouse. Exciting news indeed though I’ve not had a smart telescope before. I said I wouldn’t get one when the SeeStar was introduced, though many are using one now. It’s time to move with the times😅

I have a Dwarf 2 which I have used for some time now. I now use it in EQ mode all the time. I did order my Dwarf 3 back at the end of May, and I am hopeful that I will get it by Christmas. For the price, they are really good.

Great review. You’ll need to do a follow up in a couple months when they finalize the scheduling and mosaic features in the app. A scheduling update, language and FOV updates just went live on beta testing this week.

Thank you for this video 😊 just wanted to mention that Cuiv the lazy geek, said in his review that the Dwarf 3 does have dithering - which he was shocked at. Mine arrives in 6 weeks, can't wait 😊😊😊

Thank You for the video Trevor. I have the Seestar S50 and with the recent software updates, its a pretty nice package. Bottom line, the consumer will have a tough choice with these new smart scopes. My S50 is an easy choice if I cant setup with my two full scale rigs. Great scope for outreach as well. Keep up the good work on your videos, they have helped me immensely with my anthropography.
