Recently watched this movie again after many years, , Still, the most beautiful, sad tragic movie .The part where Angel and Tess, are finally, and settled for the night in that abandoned house at the end of the film where he is taking off her boot, and after, the embrace, as they fall together kissing is the most touching scene of true love that I have ever seen .The lovely music makes it even more poignant

The great Geoffrey Unsworth photographed "Tess, " with additional photography by Ghislain Clocquet. I was fortunate enough to see the film on the big screen and the photography practically glows. I'm hoping the Bluray edition does it justice.

Nastassja Kinski celebrated her 60th birthday on January 24, 2021. She was born in 1961. She is a German actress and former model who has appeared in more than 60 films in Europe and the United States. Her worldwide breakthrough was with Stay as You Are (1978). She then came to global prominence with her Golden Globe Award-winning performance as the title character in the Roman Polanski-directed film Tess (1979). Other notable films in which she acted include the erotic horror film Cat People (1982), the Wim Wenders dramas Paris, Texas (1984) and Faraway, So Close! (1993), and the biographical drama film An American Rhapsody (2001). Kinski is fluent in four languages: German, English, French and Italian. She is the daughter of German actor Klaus Kinski.

I love Polanski and the way this movie was made. But the original book on which it was based... I guess people kinda mix up real villains and heroes.

Does anyone know why this film never gets shown on British television? Never once have I seen it listed on TV, SKY, Netflix etc.
